During my internship from February 2024 to June 2024, I worked on a project for Spectr BIM. This project brought the Pringles factory from mechelen to the world of VR through Spectr BIM. In order to achieve this with optimal performance, a combination of Houdini, Python and C# scripts were used for optimising CAD models such that they could be rendered in realtime VR. Using dedicated shaders, the scene was made more readable and liquid flows could be visualised. All materials flowing through pipes are exactly the same as the real machines and can be visualised with the press of a single button.
This project was my first step into Unity, and immediately gave me a great insight into the technical features behind the Unity editor. Here, I taught myself more on extreme model optimisation, alternative rendering processes, technical readability and interactivity.
